Accommodations
Facilities at lodges and hotels are generally very good. Lodges are often in beautiful but remote locations. Lodges do not generally offer TV and internet etc (there is so much else to see!) in the rooms or tented rooms. Some lodges are dependent upon generators for electric power and there are sometimes planned and unplanned interruptions. EAE cannot be responsible for such interruptions or for any renovation work that, from time to time takes place. RB takes reasonable precautions to ensure the quality of the accommodations used. Facilities on budget camping safaris can be much more basic.
Where accommodation includes meals this does not include beverages.
Health
It is the travelers responsibility to ensure that the correct preventative precautions and medicines are used. Our tours are open to people of all ages and levels of fitness and we are happy to make special advance arrangements for special needs. It is however the travelers responsibility to exercise common sense as to whether their own health or that of party members is an issue. Considerations may include the fact that the weather can be hot, and because one is near the equator, the sun strong, some roads, especially in parks can be rough and the ride therefore bumpy at times. Certain Health Certificates may be needed to enter countries so please check with your doctor in advance.
Full travel insurance is strongly advised.
Children
A safari with parents or other family members is likely to provide lifelong memories for children. Safaris, however, may not be suitable for young children because of the travel and other considerations. Please discuss this with us.
Tipping
Tipping is not the ‘norm’ as it is in some countries. It is customary to tip your driver/guide however. A normal amount is $5-10 per day. A small tip for other services rendered will also be appreciated.
Safety
Safety is a top concern of ours. Most people have a wonderful time with no problems whatsoever, however it is worth noting a few points to help ensure you have a great time:
- Look after your possessions and documents and use hotel safes if possible.
- Ask our guides or hotel staff for advice on where to go, especially after sunset.
- Wear a hat and sunscreen if outside for any time.
- Follow the instructions of drivers/guides, especially in the Parks.
- Make sure you have travel insurance!
- Lodges mostly offer free bottled water which should be used.
- You may wish to read any State Department advisories in advance.
Finally, of course, everything on this web site was correct at the time of publishing and done in good faith. But things change! Therefore, we do reserve the right to change or withdraw anything at any time for any reason.
We hope you have the trip of a lifetime!
