Student and Budget Alternatives
Whether a budget traveler or a 5 star traveler in East Africa you need experience to make the most of your trip. To travel effectively and safely in and to the big and best Game Parks you need a driver/guide and appropriate vehicle. It is easy to get lost or stuck….(ask my wife for details!) as maps and mechanical things tend not to be as straightforward as we are used to! Here are ways we can make yours a budget trip:
- Camping instead of staying in Lodges….see below
- Travel with friends and family - minimum of 4 people only!
- More people in a vehicle – still with a window seat though
- Mount Kilimanjaro – we have a budget option – please ask
- Lower quality hotels in Nairobi
- Self Drive jeep – for some of the nearby and smaller sites is possible
Contact us for details and planning for you or your group. Camping Safaris are an alternative to lodge safaris and are a budget option. Without all the creature comforts of lodges the benefit is that you are closer to the land and nature. At night you camp under canvass and eat around the camp fire and arise early ..sometimes alongside the animals!
Lake NakuruLake Nakuru National Park is at the floor of the Great Rift Valley. It's main attraction is over a million flamingos in Lake Nakuru consisting greater and lesser flamingos. Baboon Cliff offers a panoramic view of the whole park. Both black and white rhino can be found in this park. Picnic lunch at Balloon Cliff followed by a game drive. Overnight at Lake Nakuru Camp with shower and flush toilet. |

Lake BogoriaLake Bogoria is another Rift Valley lake found within Lake Bogoria National Reserve. It's main attraction is the hot springs and geysers dotted around the lake. Lake Bogoria harbors flamingos. This Reserve is home to 450 bird species. After a game drive at the Reserve, you drive to Lake Baringo, a fresh water lake, to camp overnight. At Lake Baringo, you will be able to see hippo, crocodile and a huge population of birds. You may choose to hire a boat on the lake to explore further. |
