Tour Summary – Daily departures subject to availability from Nairobi. One this safari you see the best of the Parks in Kenya and then have the opportunity to visit the small country of Rwanda which has wonderful but little known sights.....not least the 'Gorillas in the Mist'!

Itinerary

Day 1. Your private vehicle with expert driver/guide will collect you from your hotel and drive to Mountain Lodge on Mount Kenya. Set within the Park at an elevation of 7,000 feet at a salt lick which draws an abundance of animals in a memorable setting. Despite being within a few miles of the equator it is fresh and cool at Mountain Lodge. (LD).

Day 2. After breakfast, you embark on the drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru lies at the floor of the Great Rift Valley and is famous for its millions of greater and lesser flamingo among other game. Lunch at Lion Hill Lodge. Afternoon game drive. Overnight at the Lodge. (BLD)

Day 3

Morning and afternoon Game Drive. Overnight at the Lodge. (BLD).

Day 4

Drive to Masai Mara National Reserve for two-night stay at a Mara Lodge. Afternoon Game Drive in this, perhaps the finest Park in the world! (BLD).

Day 5

Whole day in the Mara with morning and afternoon game drives enabling extensive discovery and explantion. (BLD). Time for optional Balloon Ride or Masai Village visit.

Day 6 Drive back to Nairobi arriving at about lunch time and transferred to a Nairobi hotel. Afternoon and evening at your leisure(B).

Day 7

Depart for Nairobi Airport and your flght to Kigali (approx 1 hr ) where you will be met and go on a Kigali City Tour. In getting to know to Rwanda a visit to the Genocide Memorial and excellent museum are important which are highlights of this tour. Overnight in Kigali. (B)

Day 8

A very early start for the drive to Ruhengeri/Knigi and your first Gorilla Trek in the Parc National Des Volcans. The gorillas live at over 8,000 feet in spectacular scenary and it will take from 1 to 4 hours hike to see the gorillas depending upon the family you visit and where they happen to be! Only 8 people are allowed to visit a gorilla family for 1 hour per day so this is a unique experience to say the least!

The hikes are on trails and they can be steep so reasonable fitness and health are needed. You should also have long sleeved clothing, waterproofs and gloves to protect from nettles etc

Overnight at the Gorillas Nest Lodge or similar. (BLD)

Day 9

Early departure to Park entrance for your second Gorilla Trek or you can chose to see the rare Golden Back Monkeys which also live in the Virunga Mountains. After the Trek travel back to Kigali where you overnight in city hotel(BLD)

Day 10

Transfer to Kigali Airport for your fligth to Nairobi where your tour ends
